Analytical-based simulation approach for an anion exchange membrane fuel cell

An analytical and empirical-based 1-D, non-isothermal, steady-state model for anion exchange membrane fuel cell capable of capturing two-phase phenomena is presented in this study. Coupled multi-physics including mass charge transport, electrochemical reactions, heat transfer, water transport are considered the simulated results compared to experimental data. To better represent actual material properties localized conditions, applies multilayer discretization gas diffusion electrode enhance prediction accuracy. The successfully predicts baseline performance at 70 °C, 131 kPa abs., 92% RH with pure H2/O2 as well limiting current 10% H2. robust simulation approach allows simplistic accurate estimation without complications applying parameters expensive computational need numerical models. In addition, from sensitivity studies operating conditions provide valuable insights on management strategies optimal component design advancing technology.
